Select one range, output and supply combination

The reviewed manual covers one integrated cup-and-vane sensor family with several mutually exclusive electrical configurations.

  • Choose a 0–30, 0–50 or 0–60 m/s wind-speed range. Do not assume the 0–60 m/s range when the lower range is needed.
  • Choose one output: RS485 Modbus RTU, 4–20 mA, 0–2 V, 0–5 V or 0–10 V. Pulse output is not part of the reviewed configuration.
  • The reviewed wind-speed accuracy is ±(0.3 + 0.03V) m/s, where V is the measured wind speed; wind-direction accuracy is ±1°.
  • RS485 and 0–2 V configurations use 5–24 VDC. The other reviewed analog configurations use 12–24 VDC.
  • The optional heater uses 12–24 VDC and must be budgeted separately at 15 W average and 18 W peak.
  • Mount the sensor clear of nearby roofs, masts and obstructions, and plan inspection of the cups, vane and bearings.

Typical applications

  • Irrigation, greenhouse and farm weather monitoring where wind affects spraying or field work
  • Solar, water and utility sites that need local wind data alongside other environmental measurements
  • Weather loggers and remote RTUs that accept RS485 Modbus RTU or a selected analog input
  • Fixed non-hazardous mast installations where moving parts can be inspected and maintained
