Select the output and install the rods without disturbing the soil contact
Range, wiring and installation method affect whether readings can be compared over time.
- Choose a 0-50% or 0-100% moisture range and a 0-5000, 0-10000 or 0-20000 µS/cm EC range before release.
- Choose one output: 0-2 V, RS485 Modbus RTU or SDI-12. These are ordered alternatives, not simultaneous standard outputs.
- The measurement-temperature range is -30 to +70 °C. The separate -40 to +80 °C value is the operating-environment limit.
- For surface insertion, push the rods vertically into undisturbed soil. For buried installation, press them horizontally into a prepared pit wall.
- Keep the three rods in close soil contact, avoid stones and do not rock the probe after insertion. The effective sensing area is approximately a 70 mm diameter by 70 mm high cylinder around the rods.
- IP68 and epoxy sealing protect the probe, but cable joints, lightning protection and the upstream enclosure still require site-specific protection.
- Compare EC readings only under a documented soil type, moisture condition and field procedure. Use a laboratory method when a certified salinity result is required.
