Default asset-tracking data path

The standard configuration uses one long-standby cellular tracker. A fixed gateway is considered only for a separately defined BLE aggregation or closed-site collection project.

Treat battery life and location accuracy as project estimates

The reviewed source supports a long-standby sealed tracker, but runtime, coverage and position quality depend on the ordered radio and the actual reporting profile.

  • The source estimates up to eight years only at one report per day. Temperature, cellular registration, GNSS acquisition, alarms, retries and signal conditions can shorten runtime.
  • LTE Cat.1 and LTE Cat.M are separate regional configurations. Select the destination country, operator, SIM format and radio variant before quotation; this is not an NB-IoT device.
  • The listed 2.5 m CEP 50% figure is a receiver specification, not a guaranteed site-level result. Buildings, containers, sky view and antenna orientation affect location quality.

Asset-tracking context

Representative asset-tracking context. Tracker, mounting, reporting interval, regional cellular profile, optional sensors and documented server handoff are confirmed before quotation.

How to choose

  • Use this battery tracker for unpowered assets and intermittent reporting. For powered vehicles or near-real-time navigation, review a wired fleet tracker instead.
  • Select LTE Cat.1 or LTE Cat.M from the destination country, operator, SIM / eSIM plan and approved regional configuration; NB-IoT is not supported by this device.
  • Estimate runtime from the actual reporting interval, GNSS and Wi-Fi scans, movement / door / tamper events, retry policy, temperature and coverage rather than using the maximum source estimate.
  • Confirm screw, bolt or optional magnetic mounting, sky view, indoor positioning expectations and whether optional door, tamper or BLE accessories are required.

Compatible with

  • Customer tracking servers accepting the selected MQTT, TCP or UDP device profile
  • Nano-SIM or eSIM service on the destination-specific LTE Cat.1 or LTE Cat.M configuration
  • Containers, trailers, generators and construction equipment with screw, bolt or optional magnetic mounting
  • Optional tamper, door or BLE accessory workflows after the exact configuration is reviewed

Typical package

  • IP67 / IP69K long-standby tracker with the destination-specific cellular configuration
  • Three Li-FeS2 AA primary cells, with transport and replacement method confirmed before shipment
  • Screw / bolt hardware or an optional magnet mount
  • Selected nano-SIM or eSIM profile, APN and customer-server endpoint
  • Reporting, movement, door / tamper and store-and-forward settings documented for acceptance

Applications

Representative long-standby GPS asset tracker mounted directly to an outdoor generator enclosure
Representative outdoor-equipment context. Tracker mounting, reporting interval, regional cellular profile, battery-life assumptions and customer-server handoff are confirmed before quotation.

Use this long-standby tracker for unpowered assets that need scheduled location reports, movement events and optional door or tamper status. It is designed for low-duty-cycle telemetry rather than second-by-second fleet navigation. Select the regional cellular variant, reporting profile, mounting and optional sensors together, then validate network coverage and customer-server integration in a pilot.

  • Scheduled location and movement reporting for containers, trailers and portable equipment
  • Long-standby monitoring of generators and construction assets without a permanent power feed
  • Outdoor asset status using GPS / GLONASS, with Wi-Fi scan data available to assist indoor location workflows
  • Optional door, tamper and BLE accessory events integrated into a customer-owned tracking platform

Frequently asked questions

Which cellular networks does this GPS asset tracker use?

The reviewed configurations use LTE Cat.1 for selected EMEA / APAC deployments or LTE Cat.M for selected global / North American deployments. This is not an NB-IoT device. Share the destination country, operator and SIM preference so the exact regional configuration can be checked.

How long will the tracker operate on its batteries?

The source estimates up to eight years only at one report per day. Actual runtime depends on temperature, signal quality, GNSS acquisition time, reporting interval, alarms, retries and optional sensors. The quotation records the agreed duty cycle rather than guaranteeing a universal battery life.

Can Wi-Fi scanning provide indoor location?

The tracker can collect Wi-Fi scan data to assist an indoor-location workflow. The result depends on the customer platform and its access-point location data, so indoor accuracy is validated in the intended building instead of being promised from the device specification alone.

Can the tracker report door opening or tamper events?

Optional door and tamper sensors are available on reviewed configurations. Their connector, mounting, event logic and payload fields must be included in the quotation and pilot acceptance plan.

What should I provide when requesting a quote for the Long-Standby 4G GPS Asset Tracker?

Asset type, movement pattern and powered / unpowered status; Destination country, operator, SIM or eSIM preference; Reporting interval, GNSS / Wi-Fi scan frequency and event rules; Mounting surface, sky view, temperature and enclosure exposure

Where can I compare available model options?

Open the Asset Tracking Hardware Catalog linked on this page. It lists SG-coded selections reviewed from available source documents; the ordered configuration is confirmed in the quotation.

Will it work with my existing system?

Compatibility is reviewed against the regional cellular configuration, operator and SIM profile, server endpoint, protocol, payload, authentication and acknowledgement requirements.
